Flight of Fancy

Flight of fancy: This idiom uses flight in the sense of “a soaring of the imagination,” a usage dating from the mid-1600s.

But for Roux...

This collection is special to me. And as I would have it, it needed a special name. It needed a name that deserves to be explained. In Flight of Fancy, we've epitomized so much of what we are trying to do.

The traditional definition of this phrase can be a bit off putting. It seems to have a negative connotation to it. But when you give it another look, the definition begins to take on a special ring. In Flights of Fancy, we are our most creative. We have to fantasize about where we can go before we can take steps in any direction. As we understand more about ourselves and our mission, we look beyond the status quo.

As you buy for your gift shop or boutique this fall remember not to get bogged down in the mundane. Take a flight with us as we imagine new frontiers. When your customer comes in, remember to explain why everyone loves wings and butterflies.

There is nothing more compelling than that story. It is the epitome of metamorphosis, faith and change. When the caterpillar goes into the cocoon it takes a leap of faith. When a bird jumps from the nest it is compelled to use its wings. These things are important spiritual notions. They teach us about the risks and beauty in life. They remind us of what we can be. If only we believe.

As Roux takes flight, so should you.
