I was talking to a friend of mine the other evening about the film, and book, The Fault in Our Stars . For those of you who do not know, it is about two teens that meet and fall in love, but they both have cancer. It’s not a story with a happy ever after, but it has a poignant and realistic ending.
We were discussing the mock funeral scene and the end funeral scene. They hold a mock funeral and read each other eulogies but when it comes down to the actual funeral scene, the character chooses not to read the eulogy they read to the person in the mock funeral. They come to the realization that funerals are for the living, not for the passed.
Funerals are a way for loved ones to gather to say final goodbyes, mourn together, and celebrate the life of those who have passed. It’s an incredibly painful experience. When I think about funerals I’ve attended I remember flowers and plants, but the memories that stand out the most are the floral arrangements that had something that celebrated the life of the passed loved one. And that’s what I get when I look at our floral tapestry collection.
The tapestry selection is varied, from a sunset, to a scripture. With both printed and woven choices available, they are gorgeous tapestries that come with a rod that are perfect for displaying on an easel to on a wall. They're beautiful sentiments.
To choose something that will remind you of a memory with that person, or a simple reminder to get you through the day as you grieve, that’s what I think resonates the most when you’re mourning. Our floral tapestries help celebrate life.
